Every year around late February/early March the annual herring run takes place here on Vancouver Island. The event can be quite a site to see and can last anywhere from a few days up to a few weeks. As fishermen, along with the eagles, sea gulls, and sea loins race to catch as many fish as they can, the open waters along certain parts of the coast line suddenly spring to life and become a very busy place to be. This year I decided to capture it on film and I've just finished putting together a short 3.5 minute video of the event for those who are interested in seeing it. Click here to watch to video.

T.W.I.P.

I still don't believe it, but my photo 'Fog Rock' has won this weeks TWIP photo contest. TWIP (This Week In Photography) is a great weekly podcast for both amateur and professional photographers. I highly recommend it for learning good tips and keeping up-to-date on all the latest news in photography including reviews on new cameras and equipment. Thanks TWIP for selecting my photo - it was a huge surprise but a most pleasant one at that.
