Letter/Box

It's been quite some time since my last post - I've been working away at putting together my latest film which I call 'Letter/Box'. It took me forever to come up with a name for this film, tossing around title after title until finally the obvious hit me, ha - a letter and a box - they are both equal to each other, they are both opposite of each other, and they are engaged in a seesaw battle of polarity force. Well the film is now complete and to view it, just click the link below (it's short, only one minute, so please don't blink or you'll miss it!)

Filming Started!

Started animating shots for the 'Red Box' film the other day (it's still untitled, lol). Got 2 shots filmed so far and both went smoothly with no problems. My only concern at this point is the speed of the camera - for a majority of the shots the camera will be in motion so I'm animating it as I animate each shot. In the final film I want the camera to be moving as slow as possible - between frames I am moving the camera an increment of 1/20th a centimeter and it still seems to move a little too quickly. It might be ok but I won't know for sure until I animate a few more shots and edit them together (besides, I don't think I'll be able to move it any less than that, lol).

The Red Box Film

These are some shots of a few camera rigs I am making for a new short film I've started
work on (currently untitled) - it's for an online competition. A small table is the center piece for this film and these rigs are designed so I can animate the camera moving around the table as objects are animated on the table.

Herring Run, 2009

The annual herring run here on Vancouver Island took place a few weeks back and I managed to shoot some time-lapse footage of the event. Mixing that footage with a technique known as 'tilt-shifting' I put together a new short video wherein all the herring boats appear like tiny models. Click here to check it out.
